Slangshot Privacy Policy
Draft. This policy is a starting point and should be reviewed by a lawyer. Last updated October 21, 2026.
1. Who we are
Slangshot (getslangshot.com) is run by Shareweaver LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Slangshot and what we do with it.
2. What we collect
- What you type or say to translate. Your text is sent to our AI provider to create the translation. We don't store it with your identity, but recent requests may appear in server logs.
- Voice clips. When you tap "Hear it", the text is sent to our voice provider to create audio. Clips may be cached so repeat plays are faster.
- Microphone. If you use speech input, your browser turns speech into text on your device or through your browser's own service. We only receive the text.
- A random device ID stored in your browser, used for votes, daily limits and unlocking purchases. It isn't linked to your name.
- IP address and country, used to apply daily limits, block abuse and decide which features are offered in your country.
- Community submissions (corrections, terms, ratings and votes) you choose to post. These are public.
- Purchases. When you buy Pro or Max, PayPal processes the payment. We receive and keep the order ID, amount, the email on your PayPal account and the restore code we give you. We never see your card or bank details.
- Settings saved in your browser, like clean mode, your "keep out of my jokes" list and your restore code. These stay on your device.
3. Who we share it with
- Anthropic (Claude) to create translations.
- ElevenLabs to create voice clips.
- PayPal to process payments.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site, stores our data and protects it from bots.
- Google AdSense, which shows ads on the free version (see below).
We don't sell your personal information.
4. Ads and cookies
The free version shows ads from Google. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at google.com/settings/ads, and learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Pro and Max have no ads.
5. Children
Slangshot isn't directed at children under 13. Clean mode limits content for younger users, and users under 13 may not post community content. If you believe a child under 13 sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
6. How long we keep it
Daily-limit counters expire within about a day. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for taxes, refunds and restoring your purchase. Community submissions stay until removed by moderation or at your request.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses. Clearing your browser's site data removes everything stored on your device. To make a request, contact us.
